|Rathmines Catalina Memorial Park Association Inc. is excited to announce the date for the return of one of Lake Macquarie’s most significant events, the 2017 Rathmines Catalina Festival. Celebrating the military history of Rathmines, the Festival’s 11th staging will be taking place on Sunday 29th October 2017.
All money raised from the Festival assists the Rathmines Catalina Memorial Park Association Inc. to achieve their fundraising targets. The goal for the Association, who are working in conjunction with Lake Macquarie City Council is to build a centre at the site of the former RAAF base. The centre will house a restored Catalina as well as being a museum, education and conference centre that will be used by community and businesses.
This unique event is distinctly Lake Macquarie and unrivalled throughout Australia. Now one of the largest community gatherings in the area, the Rathmines Catalina Festival offers a diverse range of entertainment for locals and visitors. This year crowds can expect live music, an array of market stalls, a classic car ‘show and shine’ display, plus a full program of land and air activities that celebrate the rich history of the RAAF Base and the Catalina flying boat.
Due to increasing patron demand, this year’s market area will be relocating and expanding to make use of additional parkland.
As our event is growing early applications are essential.
